Are You Struggling to Make an Internet Marketing Brand for Yourself

I had been struggling with the idea of creating an internet marketing brand for myself

Every training I went through said create an internet marketing brand for yourself so that people will recognise and have a relationship with me instead of not knowing who I am.

I understood the concept of an internet marketing brand but was struggling to apply it to me and my own business

Internet Marketing – what is a brand?

When I think of brands, I think of Coca Cola, Virgin, Apple, Microsoft and for most of these companies I just see the corporate logo and had been really struggling with the idea of creating ‘brand me’ and what it looked like and what it stood for.

I thought that it needed to be flashy and cool and very corporate so that business owners would relate to it and I didn’t know how to myself into a corporate internet marketing brand.

Internet marketing – the breakthrough for creating a brand

After some soul searching and frustration I finally understood that it’s not about the ‘corporate logo’ and that it is really about figuring out what your core values are and designing your business(and life) around them. I understood that I was my internet marketing brand already and that it was all about relating to people and actually making that human connection.

The relationship that people have with you and your brand is the only thing that matters. Most people spend all their time worrying about getting new customers and forget to look after the customers that they have already.

I think we all have been guilty of this at times. Looking at how we can get more instead of how we can give more to our existing customers and ask them if there is anything that we can do to help them and to really deliver for them so that they would recommend us to a friend.

So when you figure out what is important for you then you can actually use those criteria for making decisions and they will help you and I make better decisions and decisions that we actually believe in.

Brand You – Be vulnerable

For me the hardest part of creating an internet marketing brand was actually taking that step and putting myself out there and being vulnerable. That was scary and contrary to what I had always believed in. I thought that a leader was someone that had no faults and only ever showed the good side to the world.

Then I really started thinking about things from my own perspective. If I come across someone that I am thinking of doing business with or giving my trust to, when I meet someone who has no story of struggle and tells me that everything is great, some small alarm bell goes off in the back of my head and I don’t fully trust that person 100% because they just seem unreal.

Would you prefer to see a human or a robot?

Too good to be true or just not going all in by telling me something ‘human’ that will allow me to trust them more. That was a scary thing to see for me because I have spent most of my 31 years on the planet trying to portray that image to the outside world.

I did not see that because I wasn’t being authentic and genuine with other people, there was no way that they would be genuine and open up and actually trust me.

Now I understand that the more I open up to people, the better the relationships I can have with them because when I am willing to show that I am vulnerable then the people that I am in contact with really identify with that and let me see a little bit of their soul.

That is when the breakthrough happens for me.

Some days now when I have a conversation with a customer or friend and I come away feeling a bit deflated or not very enthusiastic….those are the days that I know I am hiding myself and that I am not being genuine with them and they can sense that before I even open my mouth.

SO this brings me back to the internet marketing brand. If your internet marketing brand leaves you feeling anyway flat or not enthusiastic then it generally means that you are trying to be something that you are not or are just hiding the little bit of truth somewhere.

If your ‘internet marketing brand’ is aligned with your core values and makes you a bit nervous in the beginning then you have probably hit the nail on the head with it.

The question some people ask me is ‘what would I do now if I was starting all over again and had to create a brand for myself again’? What advice would I give to that?

Internet Marketing – Advice to create your brand

Well first off you need to understand that your internet marketing brand ‘is you’! Your brand isn’t portraying you as you would like to be but it should actually show you as the real you. Now some people take this to the extreme and spill their guts and tell people every little thing that has happened to them and I don’t think that is a good idea either.

You people a glimpse into your world and allow them to make a decision based on that. I don’t recommend giving people your life story…they are not your friends (yet anyway) so you have to treat it a little like dating. You give enough of yourself to seem vulnerable but remember that you want them to like you and spend more time with you.

You don’t need to hit them with everything that you have and say take it or leave it.

Your internet marketing brand needs to be you. Not everyone is going to like it and not everyone is going to like you so remember that.

You create your internet marketing brand, ‘you’ online, and you want to find other people who like that and are drawn to that.

All of your fears and all of those things that you think will scare people away are actually what your internet marketing brand is all about.

Start today and create brand ‘you’ and make your internet marketing brand something to be proud about.

Internet Marketing Cycle – Does Your Journey Look Like This

For most people who come in to internet marketing or home business opportunities the driving force always tends to be money or lack of money which is why we get all the hype with the marketing

Most people who get started have an idea that the journey will go along the lines of this: get started, don’t learn new skills, put little effort in and earn lots of money very quickly.

The reality is very different for most people. They come in and don’t put the effort in and get very frustrated very quickly and quit or just can’t decide on which opportunity is for them.

 

 

There are some people who actually stick it out and choose that they will make it and get ‘internet marketing’ to work for them.

These are the people that understand that if they do the work then they will get the results. They stop looking for the results right now and just get stuck in and do the work and leave the results take care of themselves.

It is the same habits that people who are top earners in any industry have. They concentrate on doing the working and learning the skills and they do this one skill at a time. They are patient and know that the hard work will pay off.

I understand this now but really did not have a clue when I started out.

The idea that I would have to work on and learn about myself in the process of starting and growing a business was way out of my thought process.

I see now that if I am not willing/able to grow as a person then my business will never grow.

When I figured that out, I started going to event, seminars, courses and getting mentors and am making huge strides now.

I know now that I will be successful and that it does not happen overnight.

Those ‘overnight successes that we see on tv and hear on the radio have got 5-10 years of hard work at least behind them before the became successful overnight.

Internet Marketing Are You Working Smart

Think about the last 12 months in your life

Have you been working towards something or have you just been working?

I have just realised how much work that i have been doing that has not been taking me towards my goal in as fast a way as possible

How many of you have started out doing something new and asked someone for advice? Then you get the advice and what do you do with it…..that’s right…absolutely nothing.

We think we know better and go off to do it our own way.

Was there a point to asking for advice if we are not going to do anything with it?

But we don’t really look at it this way though most of the time. We just take the advice and ignore it and think we know better even though we have never done that thing before.

How insane is that when you look at it?

So you go up and ask someone who has lost weight or is making more money than you ‘how did you do it’ and then they tell you and you decide that it is better to stay in your comfort zone and not do it the way that they tell you.

You decide that you will get the result you want by doing things the same way that you have always done them and expect to get a different result than you have now.

I figured that I have been doing this with my affiliate marketing and that really bothers me now so I am now taking action about all those things I need to do and that advice that I didn’t take.

I can’t wait to see what happens in the next few months.

How Did the Landmark Forum Go

Wow….well what can I say really…Mind blowing!

It was an unbelievable weekend and I loved it!

I didn’t know what to expect and I can’t explain it now. If you get a chance to go…take it….your life will never be the same again!

I went in to a room full of strangers on Friday and have spent 39 hours with everyone over 3 days and I would not change it for all the tea in China.

A few years ago, life had lost it gloss and I was unhappy. I was working 24 hours a day and completely exhausted and had no idea what was wrong.

There was no meaning…I was just chasing the next thing and when I got it I was like a kid with a new toy…..really excited for all of 5 minutes and then bored and looking for something else.

I knew there was something missing and I have been looking for ‘it’ for quite a while.

Something really special happens when you put a group of people together that are all looking for the same thing. It’s hard to explain but it is magical.

I see things in a new light now and will not be able to go back to the way things were before even if I wanted to.

Are You Worrying About When It Will Arrive

So you are new to internet marketing and you are excited cos you are going to make 10k per month

Then you do some work and nothing happens and you start to get frustrated

Now what do you do????

This is the point where most people will get overwhelmed and want to give up and want to know how fast they can make a return on their money.

The honest answer is ‘it depends on  you’.

That’s a crap answer if you were looking for a specific day isn’t it.

The truth is that you will get out what you put in.

Most people will come in and do a bit in one area and then do a bit in another area and won’t make any money because they do not commit to the process of learning a new skill set and putting that into practice everyday.

I don’t say this pointing fingers at anyone because I went through that phase of unrealistic expectations too but I didn’t give up.

The more you worry about the goal and when it is coming, the more you are distracted from doing the work that will get you there.

It’s like going to the gym, You don’t expect to lift really heavy weight straight away. You understand that you will get stronger over time and eventually reach your goal.

Internet marketing is the exact same but because so much of the marketing is rags to riches and fast cars then it brings in alot of people with those sorts of expectations which means that they will get a rude awakening at some point because it just does not work like that.

Look at anything in your life that you are really good at now, sports or career or anything. Did you just have  a go at it and realise that you were one of the best in the world straight away….I didn’t think so.

If you want to get good then you need to understand it is the same as anything else. You need to plant the seeds and then look after them and then wait until the season comes around to harvest.

Don’t try to hurry the process because you can’t and you will get really pissed off and frustrated.

Stop worrying about the when and just know that if you are willing to do the work then it will come together for you.

Are You Scared

If you are not then you are probably not pushing yourself

I used to think that the idea was to get to a point where you are very comfortable doing whatever it is that you do

Boy was I wrong. If you are not working towards something that scares you then you are stuck in your comfort zone.

I’m a bit scared about the event I am attending this weekend but then again that is why I am attending it

Now I’m not necessarily talking mega scared but doing something that you are unsure of and a bit afraid of is healthy and will help you to grow massively.

The growth is the key.

I always thought it was the stuff that you got but now I realise that it is actually what happens to you on the journey to achieving those goals that is the best part.

You have to learn about yourself and grow and do things that you never thought were possible in order to obtain those things that you have never had before.

I never knew that every time you go on a course or try out something new or make mistakes that you grow as a person, I had just chalked it up to experience.

Start today with something that scares you and you won’t even recognise yourself in 6 months never mind a few years down the road.

Are You Waiting for Perfection or Just Giving Yourself Excuses

Are you waiting for the conditions to be just right before you do that thing

That thing that you know will make a massive difference for you or your business or your relationships

Most people do but you need to know something……conditions are never perfect so just do it now

Don’t wait for things to be perfect because if you do, you will never start and if you never start then you will never get to wherever it is that you want to go.

Some people get stuck in learning mode…you know the one. We’ve all been there. If I just knew that one thing that would make a difference, when I learn this new thing I’ll start then….sound familiar. I recognise it too. This is one of the excuses that we use to stay where we are.

I’ll wait for a sunny day to start exercising.

I’ll wait until I talk to this new mentor/business man and I will start then.

What are you waiting for to start your business today?

Stop waiting and start doing.

You don’t need to know more about it, you’ll figure it out as you go and learn what you need on the way.

 

Are you building relationships with your list or are you leaving all that money just sit there

Your List Is Your Most Valuable Asset but Are You Using It

Every online marketer worth their anything will tell you to build a list…..

But they don’t tell you what to do with it once you have it

The whole point of building a list is so that you can build relationships with the people on it so that they will know, like and trust you(well some of them anyway)

I know so many people who are spending their hard earned money building a list of customers and potential customers and then the list just sits there and and you do nothing with it.

I don’t claim to be different on this on, I have done this too.

I got so caught up in building a list of people and increasing the size of that list that I forgot to talk to them.

You have a massive list of people who have all raised their hand to say that they are interested in what you have to offer and you let them sit there and they might not even know your name if they saw it.

The old way of marketing is fine if that is what you want but it doesn’t excite me any more and I think that any time you can give someone else a bit of yourself and show them what you are really like instead of being one of those people who tries to please everyone, then you get people’s attention because you care about them and you give them value.

How surprised are you when someone shows an interest in you and actually care about you….for most people the answer would be ‘very surprised’.

We are so used to being treated like cattle that we are surprised when someone actually takes the time to connect with us.

This is the same thing on the internet.

You can be that person that sticks out miles because you give people a look at the real you and let them decide for themselves whether they like you or not.

If they don’t like you that’s great because you can get down to having better conversations with those people who actually do like you.

You then get to work with people who you actually get on with…isn’t that a nice idea.

Start talking to your list today.  Get them to take some action just to let you know they are still alive and interested in what you have to offer. If you get no response from them….get them off your list and don’t waste any more time trying to talk to them.

For most people and business owners, the answer is no.

You need to be in control of what is found when people look you up on the internet.

If you are not, then there may be other people putting up bad things about and you and you will not know about it.

That should worry you. Every time that people apply for a job or want to set up a business or run a business, You need to be aware that people will look you up on Google.

I haven’t been taking this seriously until now. I have been putting up blogs and moving up the rankings but I have not been using a plan for it.

Today is day 1 of my 30 day challenge.

Solo Ad Training Part 1

Solo Ad Training part 1 | Is it a good place to put a solo ad

I don’t think that there is enough good information available on how to find out where to put your solo ad so I decided to create some. My aim from this is to give good quality content to educate you on where to buy your solo ad and how to check to see if it is a good place to put your solo ad. For any of you who don’t know what a solo ad is, check out my post on ‘What is a Solo Ad‘.

There will be a few videos and each one will build on what goes before it so it is important to watch all of them but they will all be good simple training on their own.

Part 1 today is about how to find places that you can but solo ads and then to opt in to the lists to see what kind of emails they are sending out as this is a really simple easy way to test the quality of a list.

Outcome: The outcome that we want is to find lists that are run by somebody who cares about their subscribers. When the list owner cares, they will not send loads of advertisements and spam their list just to make money. They will give them good quality content and build a good relationship with them. This is great news for us as when they do occasionally send out a solo ad, the subscribers are more likely to check out the offer as they trust the list owner.

So what do we want from a list that we are going to send out a solo advertisement to?

  • A Good Caring Owner Of The List
  • Good Quality Content delivered regularly
  • Few Solo Advertisements Being Sent Out
  • Ideally A Buying List(people who have made a purchase before)

All of these will greatly improve the opt in numbers of the ad and the conversions of how many of these people actually buy something.
