What Business Tips Can You Learn From Your Ex

Have you ever noticed patterns in the relationships that you have had?

Certain things that people you have had a relationships seem to have in common….

Well I hadn’t noticed any of these things until this year. I started looking for patterns this year and realised that they were everywhere.

My top two tips that I learned from my ex are:

  • Commitment – I see now that I had been in relationships with people and that I was looking at them to see if they were fully committed to the relationship and that this was affecting my commitment to the relationship. It was only this year that I saw that if I was waiting for them to commit first then it meant that I wasn’t 100% committed, which in turn meant that they would not commit if they were waiting to see if I was committed 100%. If you are going to do anything….commit 100% to it. This was one of the really big tips that I got for my business, I thought I was committed at the start  but looking back, I was kicking tyres for the first 6 months because I was unsure. Since I have committed my work level has increased and I am happier and my business is doing much better.
  • Communication – Every body talks about communication but how much are we really doing it? Looking back on things from where I am now….I see that there were plenty of times that I thought that I was communicating well but understand now that there were two people talking on different levels and that I was not actually communicating. Feedback is one of the biggest things that I look for now from everyone. If your girlfriend/boyfriend/partner is unhappy with you in your relationship….you may be dead in the water and you will be the last person to know. You cannot afford to make the same mistake with your business. If you are in business with someone then you need to ask them for feedback. Ask them to rate your relationship between 1 and 10 and if it is less than a 10, ask them what could you do to make it a 10. This will immediately separate you from the rest as most people will never ask for feedback. Most people will never ask if you are happy with the service that you are providing. If you ask for feedback then you will know where you actually stand instead of presuming you are the best.
