Google ranks your website in relation to a few things:

• Original Content
• Age of your site
• How many links go out from your site
• How many links from other sites link back to your site
• The authority of the other sites that link back to your site
• How many times your name comes up in certain articles(ideally between 2-3%)

With the arrival of blogging and dynamic websites, search engines had to change how they rank things.

They no longer rank websites that do not change their content. If content is not changing and is not being clicked on by people then it will fall down the rankings.

If your site has content that is updated regularly and is getting a large volume of clicks then it will rank quite highly.
