Online Marketing

Step 1 Being Found

Online Marketing | Step 1 Being Found online

Online MarketingOnline Marketing:

Step 1 in online marketing is being found online. At a minimum, a person or company should be found online for their own name but what is more important is that you think about what terms people are searching for when they are looking for a product or service like yours.

There are two methods to being found online, paid and unpaid.

For most companies or people who know that they need a presence online they understand that one of the fastest ways of doing this is by having an advertising budget. You can then use that advertising budget to use paid advertising on search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo so that when a person searches for something, your ad will come up as one of the top 3 results on the page which are almost always paid ads. This means that you are appearing at the top of the page for people actually looking for your service.

This is targeted marketing and will present your ads in front of people looking for you so that when they contact you, they want what you have and it is much easier and faster to turn them into a customer.

The second method is unpaid and is more of a longer term strategy as it will take time to build up the online presence that you want and this will need to be done in a specific way so that you will be found on search engines for specific terms. There are multiple methods of free marketing online such as: Blogging, Videos, Article marketing, Social media.

I generally recommend that people who are starting out online begin with a blogging challenge over 30-90 days. This instills the habit in you to keep this up daily moving forward and you will learn how to create a blog so that if you decide to outsource this at a later point, you will know if the work you get back is good or bad.

Online marketing is not difficult but it will take time to master this skill. Most people think that you only need a website and online marketing if you have a business but more and more people now are beginning to resalise that this will also help you in the job market. If there are two people who apply for a job and one of them has a normal cv and the other one has a cv and a professional website….who would you hire?
